LIVING IN THE CAPITAL CITY : A FEW CONDITIONS
If you wish to live in Paris and come from a country that is a member of the EU

- Supposing you have friends or family that are Parisians and you want to live at their house, you must register at their address. In that way, you will prove that you have an official home address.
Option number two would be for your family or friends to give you an official residency recognition.
This procedure must be done as the following : the person you're living with has to write a letter in which she certifies that you're living at that address.

- As a citizen from the EU, you have the right to stay for three months. Afterwards, you will have to justify that you want to become a French citizen. The requirements are the following : be enrolled at social security/ possess social insurance, register to the tax office and of course, working permanently.

Before even coming to France, you will need to apply for a long-stay visa at the French embassy.
After filling the forms and submiting them, you will be called in by the embassy to inform you if your request has been approved or rejected.

After obtaining your visa and coming to Paris, you will have to register to the town council. If you already have a job, you can file the required documentation in order to get a work permit as soon as possible.

Beware, your visa has an expiration date.  Therefore, if you're planning to stay longer, you will have to extend it.

After having filed for a visa, you will receive a "récépissé " (sort of receipt, justifying that you're waiting for a reply from the french administration concerning your request for an identity card).

You may have to wait up to three months.
Should you not get any reply in the four following months, you might consider it as a rejection.
However, the administration is obliged to give you the reasons that led to your rejection.

Did you know that when your visa has expired and you want to stay in France, you have to apply for a titre de sejour, otherwise you will be considered as an illegal immigrant in France.

As soon as you get a reply from the french administration, if positive, local authorities might get you to register for french lessons following a process of integration.
